29TH ANNUAL

Hi Everybody,

The folk who have trouble breathing don't care much that the Dow Jones Industrial Average value is two thirds of what it was awhile back.  No, they struggle to enjoy life and, mainly, take things as they come.  We are in touch with a community of people just like that.  Their inquiry goes like this, "Can you find out all there is to know about cystic fibrosis, tell all the doctors what you've come across, and then tell us?"  It's a straight forward request.  Even I understand it.  I say, 'let's take the challenge."

We are heartened by an article in the May 4th issue of the New Yorker magazine.  A writer, after interviewing a number of folk involved in cystic fibrosis research, made the following observation: "All of the physicians and scientists the writer spoke with emphasized the many unknown variables, but for the first time, there is convincing evidence that the underlying defect in cystic fibrosis can be corrected."

Heady stuff, heady stuff indeed!

See you July 27th at Stanford!

Stanford University Golf Course
A Golf Tournament and Banquet
Monday, July 27, 2009

The Tournament

This is a charity golf tournament. The word charity is in front of the words golf tournament. We are committed to both putting forth a maximum effort for the charity and having a great event. To further this aim in 2009, we will continue the early-bird addition. Our early-bird shotgun start will begin with teeing off at 7:15 am. The folks who want to zip around Stanford, put in an afternoon of work, and join us for the wine tasting and banquet are encouraged to do so. The morning players will receive breakfast in addition to lunch, wine tasking and the banquet. Also, every golfer will have a chance to win tournament tee prizes the event is famous for providing. Hopefully, these improvements will let more people play, speed up the playing time, and give us a greater shot at a superior contribution to the researchers.

GolfballSo you have your choice; an early morning Stanford golf experience or the traditional noon hour shotgun start. To optimize the enjoyment of all we are limiting the number of participants for both starting times. Now's the time to sign up.

Remember if you block out Monday, July 27th come early or later; there will be a kid who will benefit. The progress is heartening; it's just not enough. We continue to need your help.

See you the 27th!

Non-golfers are more than welcome to join everyone for the tournament banquet around the eighteenth green at Stanford. Last year over 400 golfers and friends alike met for the post-tournament gathering. It's a chance to make new friends while enjoying the wine tasting and a beautifully prepared dinner around the 18th green.

In addition, there's the tournament awards presentation plus valuable door prizes donated by the Classic's many sponsors.

All this for just $60.00 for non-golfers with the proceeds going to fight against Cystic Fibrosis.

Tee Off On Cystic Fibrosis

Since its inception in 1981, the tournament has handed over $3,000,000 to trained researchers to help further research into causes and treatment of Cystic Fibrosis. This genetic disease affects one in 2,500 children in America each year. It primarily disables the lungs and digestive tract. Treatments include daily medication, nutritional disciplines and physical therapy.

The Ross Mosier Classic benefits Cystic Fibrosis research at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford.
